Born in Stoke on Trent, Christine Palmer began her musical career there, playing her first concerto at the age of fourteen. She continued her studies, piano and composition, at Trinity College of Music, where she studied with Joseph Weingarten. At Trinity College, Christine won several of the awards presented to outstanding students, including the Alex Rowley Prize for Piano, and in 1973 she was elected a Fellow of the College, having already gained LTCL and GTCL diplomas. Also in 1973, she won a Russian State Scholarship to study at St. Petersburg Conservatoire with Moyse Halfin. After a year at St. Petersburg, she was awarded a Tillet Trust Scholarship to continue her studies in London. Since then, Christine has been active in giving piano recitals and playing concertos within the United Kingdom and abroad. She is particularly interested in chamber music and is in considerable demand as an accompanist by both singers and instrumentalists. Christine Palmer also works as a free-lance repetiteur, teacher and examiner for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music. |
